How to Import a World in Minecraft

  1. Download the .schem file when your map is ready.
  2. Open your Bedrock world in Amulet Editor (free, Windows/macOS/Linux).
  3. Use Import to load the .schem file, place it, and save the world.
  4. Copy the world back to your device or export it as a .mcworld to open in Minecraft.

Drag the rectangle to move it, or a corner to resize. Everything inside it gets built. Max 25 km².

Map data comes from the public OpenStreetMap services (Nominatim for search, Overpass for features) over the internet. The server can reach them directly, or through HTTPS_PROXY when that variable is set on the host; without working access the search or the build fails with a retry message.

WHAT TO BUILD

Streets and buildings on the real terrain.

The finished world is kept for 5 days, then the file is deleted to save space. Save it on your device.

Buildings, roads, parks and water come from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Terrain height uses open elevation data. Detail depends on how thoroughly the area is mapped.

MORE ABOUT THIS TOOL

Minecraft Map Generator From Real-World Map Data

Choose an area on the map and this tool turns the available OpenStreetMap features inside it into a Minecraft structure: streets, building footprints, parks, water and terrain-derived ground. You then download a WorldEdit schematic and paste it into a Java Edition world.

What ends up in the build

  • Streets and paths: roads from OpenStreetMap, drawn at a width taken from their road type.
  • Buildings: footprints extruded to a height from the map data, up to a fixed limit.
  • Parks, water and land use: green areas, waterways and mapped water drawn as block colours.
  • Ground: a height map from open elevation data, with optional stone and ore layers below.

How to generate a map

  1. Search for a place, or drag the map to the area you want.
  2. Move or resize the selection box until it covers the area to build.
  3. Pick the edition, what to build, game mode, time of day and underground options.
  4. Check the price on the button and start the build.
  5. When the preview appears, download the .schem file and paste it in Minecraft.

What you can download

The finished map is a .schem WorldEdit schematic for Minecraft: Java Edition. This build does not produce Bedrock worlds or complete world folders. To use the schematic on Bedrock, convert it with a third-party tool such as Amulet Editor; that conversion is outside this app.

Accuracy, size and availability

Accuracy depends on how completely the area is mapped: cities usually have more buildings and roads than rural places. Larger selections contain more data and take longer. The map data is fetched from public OpenStreetMap services at build time, so a slow or blocked network connection (including a proxy that is not configured on the server) can make search or the build fail.

Cost and retention

The price in credits is shown on the button and depends on the area you select; the service checks it again when you submit. Finished files stay available for a limited number of days, then they are deleted, so download them. If a build fails, its credits are returned.

Minecraft Map Generator FAQ

Which Minecraft edition does the download work with?

The .schem file is for Minecraft: Java Edition with WorldEdit (or a compatible editor). Bedrock conversion is not provided here.

Where does the map data come from?

From OpenStreetMap contributors and open elevation data. The server fetches it from public OpenStreetMap services when you start a build.

Why did a search or a build fail?

The public map service can be slow or unavailable, or the server may not reach it (for example when a proxy is required but only HTTP/HTTPS_PROXY is unset). Try again later; credits for a failed build are returned.

How large an area can I select?

There is a maximum area and a minimum side length, shown next to the map and checked before you start. Larger areas take longer and produce bigger files.

How long are finished maps kept?

For a limited number of days shown before you start; after that the files are deleted to save space. Download the file you want to keep.
